Three of the most common phenomena are:
- Experience shows that it's not always the best ideas that receive the most points, but rather those that seem obvious or easy to implement.
- As social beings, we tend to follow others' actions and decisions. In dot voting, this means that options already receiving a lot of points gain more attention from the remaining team members, increasing their likelihood of being chosen simply for that reason.
- Options that aren't clearly described or are illegibly labeled are often overlooked or misread during the evaluation process. As a result, they have significantly lower chances of being rated positively, even if the ideas behind them are excellent.
